TREE AND SHRUB CARE
PROTECT YOUR TREES AND SHRUBS WITH OUR PLANT HEALTH PROGRAM
TREE AND SHRUB CARE SERVICES
We use a common sense approach for tree and shrub care to help you maintain the beauty landscape plants. We apply control only where needed. Not every plant gets sprayed. Why? Not only is this the law, but also better for your plants and the environment. When treating for insects and disease, we treat only where needed. We carry a variety of products so we can deal with most any pest issue we find while visiting your property.
Our services include treatments throughout the season to keep pests under control. No one can eliminate pests but regular treatments keep damage to a minimum. We offer Dormant oil to control pests that overwinter on plants, insect and disease controls (generally 3) throughout the season and finally Fall deep root fertilization. Fall feeding promotes good overall plant health without excessive top growth.
Our horticulturist, Fred, is also a certified arborist (there are only 7000 arborists in the state!). He is constantly attending training events and learning about environmental and pest issues so he has the latest knowledge and techniques when he inspects and applies treatment to your plantings.
OUR TREE & SHRUB CARE PROGRAM
DORMANT OIL
Our first visit of the season. This selective application helps to control insects and their eggs that overwinter on landscape ornamentals. Dormant oil kills pests by smothering them. Insects controlled include: Adelgids, Scale, Mites, and Eggs of numerous other pests.
SPRING INSECT & DISEASE CONTROL
Our second visit will minimize damage caused by leaf miners, scale insects, apple scab, aphids, sawfly larvae and other spring pests. By far the most important treatment for your crabapples, birch, pines and others.
SUMMER INSECT & DISEASE CONTROL
Our third visit controls Weevils, scale, dreaded Japanese beetles, spider mites, Powdery mildew and other heat loving pest species. This treatment is not based on a specific time but rather when pest problems are active in specific cities and neighborhoods.
FALL INSECT & DISEASE CONTROL
The fall visit Helps get pest issues cleared up before winter. Late season pests include, Mites, Lacebugs, rust disease and powdery mildew.
DEEP ROOT FERTILIZATION
Our soil injected fertilizer is designed to build a strong, healthy root system. Research has shown the majority of root growth occurs after the top of the plant goes dormant for the season. Experts agree that in most cases, one feeding in fall is all your plants require for good health and vigor. Fertilization is limited to your shrubs and ornamental trees. We do offer fertilization for your naturalized and large shade trees at an additional cost.
WHY SO MANY VISITS?
This is a common question, with an easy answer. Different pests become active at different times of the season. A treatment in May won’t control Japanese beetles in July, nor will it control mites in August. Bottom line: Treatments need to be applied when pests are active in order to be effective.
OUR GUARANTEE
If you are on our full service program, we will come back to take care of any problems for no extra cost. There are certain pest problems and environmental factors that are out of our control and cannot be guaranteed. We always do our best to care for your landscape as if it were our own. We do limit our spray treatments to plants less than 20 feet. Micro Injection is available for larger trees.
OTHER AVAILABLE PLANT HEALTH CARE SERVICES
ANTI-DESICCANT
For those who have a large number of evergreens or live close to main roads where wind damage or salt spray can damage your plants, we offer anti-desiccant. This is a spray application that seals in moisture to help prevent winter wind burn and desiccation from salt mist. This does not protect from cold temperatures as many think.
MICRO-INJECTION
For those hard to control insect pests, we offer either soil drench or injection to control difficult pests like bark beetles, borers and certain types of scale. This is often the only effective method for Magnolia scale, Emerald Ash borer and certain bark beetle species. Our arborist will discuss the best approach for your trees.
