Trees are very resilient! 5 years ago this crabapple in North Conway New Hampshire was dying. It had been in front of this store for decades. the crown was thinning and it had a gaping hole in the trunk that was slowly decaying.

2 years ago, the shop owner had an arborist inspect the tree. The decaying wood was removed and a new trunk of brick and mortar was installed to fill the void where the decay had been.

Today, the tree is recovering beautifully! full crown and loaded with crabapples. The tree is actually growing around the brick and mortar. In a few more years no one will know that this tree has a brick trunk! Just goes to show you what people will do to save a beloved tree!!!
